Things that matter - camera

I found it in a drawer when I was five or six. It was stored in an old leather case.
When I opened it I saw this strange piece of metal, I thought it was a magical object.
It was my mom’s camera; her father gave it to her as a gift for graduation.
I had never seen my mother using it.
When she found me playing with the camera, she put it on the highest library shelf, saying that I was a child and too young to use it.
It was magical and now forbidden too: I wanted it even more!
For my eighteenth birthday I asked for the camera as my present and finally it was mine.
My first camera.
Nowadays, when I want to remember how I decided to be a photographer, I take it and shoot.
